As a Sound Designer, John Cyzycki has produced collegiate designs (both conventional and devised theatre), including Snapshot (Directed by Bill Bowers) and Episodes in Sexuality (Directed by Matthew Suwalski). He has also sound engineered live for multiple shows, including RENT (Directed by Dr. Rochelle Elman). (Resume can be found here.)
Following are examples of different design elements, primarily from Snapshots and Episodes in Sexuality:
Snapshot: The concept behind this design was related to how 9/11 affected the American sensibility, and creating organized chaos when needed, without distracting the audience. From that, sounds were drawn to create atmospheres in which emotions were heightened/compressed, depending on the scenes needs.
EPISODES IN SEXUALITY : The concept behind this design was creating a dark German-expressionist feel, for a play which was heavy in dance, and surrounded the topic of rape.
